US-China Business Roundtable
How to
Profit from the World’s Fastest Growing
Economy during the
U.S. Downturn
September 20, 2011
The Chrysler Building, 405 Lexington Avenue,
9F, New York, NY 10147
In these turbulent economic times in the
U.S., with high unemployment, slow GDP
growth, and an unresolved debt crisis,
China seems to be the only bright spot in
the world today, evidenced through its
continued impressive economic achievements:
- China’s
GDP growth in the first half of 2011 reached
9.6%, vs. less than 2% in the U.S.;
- Both
exports and imports of China continued to
grow over 24% and 27% respectively during
the first half of this year, making China
the largest exporter and 2nd largest
importer in the world;
- China’s
domestic consumer market will have expanded
to over $3 trillion by the end of 2011, after growing at a
double digit rate annually for the past 10
years;
- China’s
domestic stock exchanges have seen over 500
initial public offerings with lofty PE
multiples in the past three years, compared
to a slump in the U.S. public markets;
- Under
the Chinese government’s push for “going
overseas,” Chinese companies have been on a
hunt for overseas investment opportunities,
driving the Overseas Direct Investment up
36% in 2010 to $59 Billion and estimated
still higher numbers in 2011.
Learning to do business in China is not just
a must for Fortune 500 companies or the
largest institutional investors, but is now
a survival skill for small and medium
businesses, bankers, and investors.
This US-China Business Forum is designed as
a hands-on and actionable conference
platform to help small and medium size
companies:
· Learn
about business and investment opportunities
in China;
· Gain
knowledge and skills to act on business
interests in China while overcoming
challenges;
· Meet
and network with like-minded professionals
for successful ventures in China.
In this Roundtable session, a sourcing
expert with over 20 years of experience of
product development and sourcing in China
will share with us his unique perspective
for successful sourcing in China; A
seasoned US-China cross border intellectual
property attorney from a leading Chinese
patent agency will provide practical
solutions to protect IP rights in the
challenging IP environment of China. And
two China-practice attorneys with extensive
China experience from a top global law firm
will present an update of the changing
capital market and resulting opportunities
in China and challenges, and counsel on legal structure and
considerations of doing business in China.
In addition, participants
will have ample opportunity to interact and
network with the speakers and each other,
ask questions, share insights, and offer
solutions to each other on all things
related to China in a relatively intimate
setting.
